Italian special effects genius Carlo Rambaldi, designer and mastermind of E.T. died yesterday at the age of 86.
Spielberg has often said that when the children interacted with Rambaldi’s creation on set they truly believed E.T. was real and that was what resulted in such stunning performances from them.
